The American Indian Commercial Tobacco Program (AICTP) uses clinically proven methods to achieve some of the highest cessation quit rates in the country. The National Jewish Health Quitline programs have a 37% responder quit rate for those who use coaching and nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and a 90% participant satisfaction rate. We feel confident in our ability to help your patients to live commercial tobacco free.
What the Program Offers
American Indians looking for support with quitting commercial tobacco can enroll in the American Indian Commercial Tobacco Program online or by telephone. Once enrolled, they will gain access to these program offerings:
- Phone-based coaching support and additional support via email, text or instant message. Participants work with American Indian Coaches trained to prepare a quit plan, set a quit date, identify commercial tobacco triggers, manage cravings and address relapses. Our AICTP offers 10 proactive coaching sessions with unlimited inbound contacts. Coaches are available seven days a week.
- Full pharmacotherapy program, including nicotine replacement therapy (NRT), education and coordination of pharmacy benefits.
- Planning and educational materials, either through our website or on paper, to help participants map out their journey to quitting commercial tobacco.
- Membership in an online community of others who have quit commercial tobacco or are working to become commercial tobacco free.
Participants can select whichever parts of the AICTP they would like. The two components we always encourage are nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) and coaching. Research shows combining NRT and coaching produces the best chances of quitting.
